Evaluation

Personal Assessment avoids treating everybody the same way

During this Teaching Unit implementation, a formative assessment has been carried out.

This is tough to be one of the main strategy to ensure students learning.

Besides that, also a summative assessment is contemplated in some way, by means of collecting different activities data such as brief tests at the end of one "period" or some listening activities. The majority of the activities designed and implemented, had been tought to be assessed with a formative assessment and enabling the teacher to obtain different information in each session done.

In this formative assessment, the initial objectives and goals, as well as tasks had been shared with the students, trough a initial presentation; so they knew beforehand what they would have to do. For this reason, also the assessment criteria was shared.

In general, 3 types of evaluation was carried out:

  • Self-evaluation

  • Co-avaluation/ Peer evaluation

Different evaluation ressources had been used.

  • Checklists

  • DOL             Demonstration Of Learning

  • Teacher's assessment criteria (shared with the students at the beginning of the "project")

Assessment Grid

This assessment grid has been created in order to easily collect data and grades for each and every student and at the same time have them all gathered in one document. Moreover, this document allow us to include different activities as well as organizing them for competences and "àmbits" and "attach" any percentatge and value we've decided to confer.

Furthermore, it has been decided to organize the different calls and each value in interval so as to have a general overview if all the class grades and see from the distinguished colors, those students who are above average, he ones on the average grades and those who need more support in order to successfully achieve the objectives and goals stetted.

Down below you can see a picture of how an assessment grid of this type would look like.

You could have seen that there are different colors. The colors correspond to different number intervals.

We can find:

  • from the 8,99 to 10 in green color.

  • from 6,99 to 8,99 in orange color.

  • from 5,99 to 6,99 in yellow color.

  • from 5 to 5,99 in blue color.

  • 4,99 or below, in red color.

This system help the teacher quickly have a general overview of the class grades and identify those students needing more support.

DOL: Demonstration Of Learning

This DOL is a good strategy to obtain a part of an assessment. This consist of taking an objective students need to accomplish and describe an activity they will have to carry out within the session's development. This DOL is an activity which must be individually carried out in 5-10 minutes and will give some information to the fulfillment of the objectives or not.

Some of the DOLs carried out in this T.U. are displayed here.
